Seattle native, Shari Both, has been designing jewelry from her home studio since 2000. Embracing an eclectic aesthetic, her designs are textural, graceful and romantic. Her unique style includes delicate wire wrapping, repousse and cold connection. She is known for her mastery of color, dimension, and detail. She currently lives in Seattle with her husband, two children, and newest addition Ella, their rescued Greyhound. Why do you design jewelry? I've loved beautiful jewelry since I was a little girl. The way it looks, feels against my skin, and the sound it makes when I move. In 2000, I retired from a corporate design career to raise my family. No longer wanting to design at a computer, I began creating with my hands. Designing jewelry allows me to bring beauty and pleasure to my life and the lives of others. What influences your design? I'm drawn to the complexity, fluidity, and imperfect symmetry of the natural world. Color and texture fascinate me. I am eclectic in many areas of my life, and this is echoed in my designs. My influences range from the stylized flora and fauna designs of Cartier in the early 20th century, to the flower power designs of the 1960's. I like each piece to have it's own history. What sets you apart? I am known for my use of color, texture and wire wrapping technique. I design and craft each piece by hand. By virtue of the organic quality of each and every stone, no two pieces of my jewelry are the same.
